The Simple Dollar - Finding Motivation and Meaning in the Drudgery of Personal Finance

Trent over at The Simple Dollar definitely speaks to a lot of people’s feelings on the subject of dealing with their personal finances. From the outside, things such as tracking spending with receipts or making a budget can seem about as interesting as watching paint dry.

He makes some good points, particularly the one about how he tries to “make connections between the things you’re doing and the improved financial state you’re in”. I wholeheartedly agree with that approach. It may seem ridiculously boring to watch your pennies now, but those smart decisions will pay off in the long run (e.g. not having to work at age 75 because you can’t afford to retire)

Check out the full article - he has some other great stuff on his blog as well.
